Okay, so due to this thread, and the library reopening, I read all of Check Please.

I have learned I dislike Twitter just as much in a book as I do in real life. But man was it fascinating to see what those ffa folks were talking about! I seem to have only read freshman year (and also apparently random ending chapters of sophomore? I remembered the kiss and the co-captains but nothing else!) and honestly, that was where I should've quit generally. It felt like freshman year was a light hockey story, while sophomore and junior felt like fluff fanfiction about said light hockey story. I was interested in the hockey, but after year 1, Bitty was shown playing less and less! (Though at least that picked up a little in year 4, but it was hard to get excited when there was so little build-up.)

It was also sorta weird to see this college experience so radically different than my own. Man, if college is even half that fun for most folks, no wonder they're nostalgic about it!

Also omg did I have trouble keeping track of all the new characters in year 3. Year 4 improved a little.

But yeah, I think this has taught me that I like fluff slice-of-life, but only for short stories.
