All I could think about regarding Wish is Super Mario RPG/Paper Mario and its own wish system. (It doesn't help the star looks like a Luma. :P) The stars are the closest the Mario series has to a religion, with the stars themselves like angels (complete with Geno, who possesses a kid's doll so he can have a more "proper" form in his time on earth). The stars grant wishes through the Star Road, and if Star Road is destroyed, nobody's getting their wishes granted. In Paper Mario, it's revealed the Star Rod gives any wielder its power. Since the stars refuse to grant "selfish" wishes, this pisses Bowser off and so he steals the Star Rod. The plot of Paper Mario shows that wishes are nothing without support: the Star Spirits need Mario to save them to regain their power, and when Bowser uses the Star Rod to overpower Mario in the final battle, it's Peach's faith in him and Twink that powers up the beam that turns off Bowser's invincibility and defeat him. The Lumas feel like a separate thing, considering they follow Rosalina and serve different purposes (ex. Feeding a Luma enough Star Bits so they can turn into a planet or galaxy)

I once saw a video that explained that Wish's Star was meant to be a tribute to the "bouncing ball," which is the first thing an animator practices animating. Which makes a LOT more sense considering this is meant to be a tribute to Disney, I just wish (ah ha ha) that they made this clearer with the Star so it wasn't just LOL Marketable Not!Luma.

Wish really is a fascinating movie because of all the things it could have been, but we got a milquetoast product because Disney's too concerned about Marketability and uggggggh. I'd much rather have either version of your Wish movie. D:
